Extreme Slot Machine
Ever wanted to glimpse the future? Yeah, we can’t help you with that, sadly… What we can do is point you in the direction of Extreme, Stakelogic’s vaguely futuristic and highly-volatile video slot. This space age take on the classic fruit machine format has 5 reels, 20 fixed paylines and a woozy, colourful interface. All wins pay left to right, starting from the leftmost reel.
The highly animated Extreme slot boasts several nice features, including expanding wilds, a bonus round which can award gamers with up to 60 free spins and wild multipliers – handy if you want to enhance your win by up to x15. Intrigued? You should be. Especially when play costs as little as 0.20 per spin. You can also play for 50 credits per spin, if you prefer.
Extreme Empyrean
Extreme is set against an extra-planetary backdrop, a star-bejewelled sky in outer space. The 5x3 reel grid, which is mostly transparent, is populated by a number of glowing orbs and gemstone icons. And the best part? There are no damn playing cards anywhere in sight. Huzzah!
Before you get started, set your coin value and bet-per-line using the controls located at the foot of the screen. They should look pretty familiar if you’ve ever played a video slot.
There may be no playing cards, but the orbs are joined by a lucky 7 and cherries encased in a block of ice. The latter symbol is the game’s most lucrative, granting a 500-coin jackpot when you hit five on an active payline. The win is 100 for four and 50 for three. Other well-paying symbols include the lucky 7, which dishes out 25 for three, 50 for four and 100 for five. The blue gem pays 20 for three, 40 for four and 80 for five. At the lower end of the scale, the blue orb pays just 3, 6 and 12. It's not the best pay-table we’ve ever come across, but it’s not the worst.
It must be said that both the audio and the visuals here are creditable. Stakelogic have done a good job of manufacturing a game that’s both fun and immersive. Not only are the graphics clean and crisp, but the reels spin to a soundtrack of electro-style beeps and effects. The game’s theoretical payback percentage is 96.57%.
Special Cubes
The pale blue cube is the game’s wild, and though it only appears on the central reel, it can come in pretty handy. When it appears, it will drop downwards to the bottom of the grid, and two more wilds will appear on top. In effect, then, it’s an expanding wild – one which increases your chances of finding a matching combination. Furthermore, the ice-like cube awards free spins when visible on the reels, dropping one position after every free spin.
It also pays to keep an eye out for the question mark. It too is encased in a block of ice, though it appears in the second and fourth columns. The question mark – known as the Mystery Multiplier Cube – awards a random multiplier of x2, x3, x4, x5 or x7 when it helps form a winning combination. For instance, if you hit a combination which pays out 100 credits, your win might wind up being 700. If two multiplier cubes form part of the selfsame winning combo, the multipliers are added together. Sweet!
The bonus symbols don’t end there. Matters improve when the free spins feature is taken into consideration. To trigger this, you must land three or more of the flaming key bonus scatters. If you do, you’ll be gifted 10, 20 or 30 free spins. The free spins bonus can also be re-triggered, with up to 60 spins possible. What’s more, the wild multipliers in the free spins round are even more lucrative, starting at 5x and possibly increasing to 15x.
Back to the Future
There’s nothing overly extreme about Extreme, but it’s nonetheless a fine video slot. The bonus symbols are plentiful, the pay-outs high and the graphics sharp. While you can expect some rough spells when you don’t hit many combos, that’s to be expected with a slot of this nature. As long as you can trigger the free spins round every once in a while, and land more than a single wild multiplier on a winning line, you should keep your coffers replenished.
