Fortune Jump Slot Machine

One of the more dated slots in the Playtech catalogue, Fortune Jump is a game that draws on the mystical appeal of the Orient to hand players some impressive bonus wins in its two main features.

With 5 reels, 40 paylines and a Japanese pagoda featuring in the background, Fortune Jump is a bright and colourful game that – although admittedly past its prime in terms of graphics and animations – still packs enough punch to draw players in with the promise of a 500x regular jackpot.

Fortune Cookie

Like the vast majority of Playtech’s video slot catalogue, Fortune Jump is a fully customisable game that allows players to adjust both the total number of active paylines and their bet per line. With anywhere between 1 and 40 prize combinations on offer and stakes ranging from $0.01 to $25, the game offers a huge scope for betting and can be enjoyed by players using most bankroll sizes.

Playable from $0.01 to $1,000 a spin, Fortune Jump awards a minimum prize payout of 5x your line bet, but with all 40 paylines active, you’ll frequently complete more than one winning combination. The maximum regular jackpot is 500x your line bet for matching five golden koi carp icons on an active payline, and this symbol also doubles as a wild that can be substituted for all regular symbols.

Fortune Jump also features a lucky coin scatter symbol that appears on all five reels and is used to award the bonus feature. Though not awarding a prize payout in itself, this will trigger a pick-and-click game where up to 18 selections are available, with each uncovering increasingly valuable wins.

Eastern Promise

As alluded to earlier in this review, the theme of Fortune Jump is focused on the magic of the east, with a collection of traditional Asian symbols used to denote the higher value icons. These include the aforementioned koi carp and coin symbols, a pagoda, a Hokusai-style wave picture, pearls and Japanese characters, with the standard ace-through-jack playing card icons completing the line-up.

Each winning payline is greeted with a simple animation sequence that adds a slight graphical flourish to proceedings, but aside from this Fortune Jump is a fairly basic-looking slot that provides little in the way of outstanding visuals. That being said, whenever players are on the verge of triggering the bonus feature, the reels do light up and spin faster to help increase the anticipation.

In terms of audio, the game features all of the traditional Asian music that you’d expect from a Far East-themed slot, with the stereotypical crashing of gongs also greeting some of the bigger wins.

Jump Around

There are two main bonus features in Fortune Jump, one which occurs randomly in the base game and the other being activated whenever three or more scatter symbols appear anywhere on the gameboard. The first is the Magic Jump feature which can potentially be triggered whenever a five-of-a-kind combination is collected during a regular spin. When this happens, players will receive their normal prize before the symbols change to a higher value icon to award additional winnings.

The game’s main feature, meanwhile, is a pick and click game that transports players to an additional screen filled with four rows of shields. Players must then select a shield to uncover a bonus prize, with this process continuing until the word “collect” is revealed. Picks can also cause you to descend to the next row of the bonus board, where bigger and better prizes are available.

In total, players can receive up to 18 prizes in the bonus feature and – should they make it all the way to the bottom of the board – they’ll even be transported to an additional prize wheel. If you’re lucky enough to get this far, the prize wheel will land on a multiplier that increases your total win.

Let Me Be You Fantasy

While not a bad slot per se, Fortune Jump is unlikely to inspire players with its rather tired theme and outdated graphics. The bonus feature can be incredibly rewarding, but doesn’t come around very often – indeed, we went more than 200 spins during our review without triggering it – meaning players are instead left relying on the random Magic Jump bonus to top up their regular winnings.
