Viking Runecraft Slot Machine
The vast majority of slot games stick to a classic layout, with reels to spin and paylines to aim at. Play’n Go is one of the few developers that dare think completely outside the box and create a new way to gamble and win big. Viking Runecraft is a video slot game that illustrates this new trend, and this game has some serious arguments in its favour.
Viking Runecraft is a drop-based slot game played on a large, 7x7 grid of symbols that replenishes after each win. Inspired by the Norse gods and their epic stories, Viking Runecraft is sending players on a trip to Valhalla that they won’t forget anytime soon. Read our full review of Viking Runecraft to see what you should be expecting.
As Real as It Gets
Viking Runecraft made a very strong first impression on us. As soon as we launched the game, we were deeply impressed by the vibrant scenery of dark mountains and rainy clouds in the background. The symbol grid is decorated with runes and amulets, with animated, 3D gods and goddesses making regular appearances during the game.
The Play’n Go team did an amazing job designing Viking Runecraft. The final result is both mysterious and attractive, and each of your actions on the screen will trigger sound effects and quick animations. Viking Runecraft feels alive, and we couldn’t wait to start playing to learn more about the basic rules of the game.
Cascades of symbols right ahead
The 7x7 grid of Viking Runecraft is filled with various symbols, from runes to axes, hammers, helmets and Viking amulets. Clusters of identical symbols trigger a cash prize, disappear and leave space for new icons to trickle down and, perhaps, form another cluster, and so on. Use the command buttons to bet from 0.10 to 100 credits per turn, and you are good to go.
Viking Runecraft comes with a 96.40% RTP, which is within the market’s average and makes scoring small clusters of symbols fairly easy. The most valuable prize that you can score in the base game is worth 1000 times your line bet. Viking Runecraft comes with the usual autoplay game mode, which we thought made the whole experience even more exciting than usual.
Godly Powers
Viking Runecraft comes with some epic bonus features designed to make the game even more dynamic than it already is. You can go through several levels and titles by clearing out specific patterns of symbols on the grid. Each level is associated with either Thor, Freya, Odin or Heimdall, and each deity brings a super power to the table, adding wilds to the reels in specific patterns when you least expect it.
The bonus coin on the left side of the grid spins after each win, giving you a chance to unlock an extra cash prize in the process. Successive clusters also charge up the bonus gauge, which can unlock several special effects in the process. When fully charged, you gain access to the Ragnarok mode and its epic x15 win multiplier.
New Style, New Options
Sweet Party from Playtech is another original slot game with a dropping feature. Despite its much lighter universe, Sweet Party does follow essentially the same rules as Viking Runecraft. The lower RTP and absence of bonuses, however, also make it a much more challenging game overall.
Egyptian Rise by Nyx Gaming is another sort of original slot game. With 243 ways to win, the game offers many more possibilities than a regular slot machine with fixed paylines. You will find a high volatility and few bonuses here, the perfect recipe for a good challenge.
An Epic Game for Ambitious Gamblers
Viking Runecraft has all the ingredients necessary to become an all-time slot game hit. The Play’n Go developers went all-in with the graphics, took some time to develop an original gameplay and incorporated big wins and dynamic bonus features on top. Add some fearless Norse gods on top, and what else is there to ask?
Keep in mind that Viking Runecraft can be a little challenging at first. Don’t expect to start scoring large clusters right from the start, and try to take advantage of the bonus features as much as you can. Viking Runecraft has a lot to offer, and we had a great time trying to unlock all of its many special features.
