Pimped Online Slot Review
To the best of my knowledge the hip-hop / rap theme has not been done before by any slot maker. Pimped by Play N Go adds a certain celebrity to the idea - the biggest paying symbol looks uncannily like Snoop Dog. The overall feel is like hip-hop version of NetEnt’s Mega Fortune. The symbols are the trappings of wealth, with a roll of dollar bills, ring and gold dollar sign all featuring. There is a ‘win spins’ feature, which is where the bigger wins in this game come from.
The first thing you’ll notice about Pimped is the multi-layered soundtrack. There are deep bass notes, synth tunes on top and the cheers and chatter of a crowd in the background. This is really well produced, going quieter between spins and then coming to life when you start to play. Graphics are very professional, from the glitzy symbols to the animations. On the feature round, you’ll be playing against the animation of a ‘rain’ of dollars.
Win spins is a free spins round that guarantees you a win every spin. You’ll only start with 5 spins; though hitting more of the oversized dollar symbols will trigger 2 more spins each time.
Setup and Play for Pimped
This is a 10 line video slot, with the standard 5 reels and 3 rows of symbols on each. You can choose the number of lines to play. As always when there are stacked wilds in-play, I prefer to spin with the maximum. There is an option to increase the number of coins you play per line, as well as the coin value. The maximum is $2 coins, at 5x per line and 10 lines for $100 a spin. The smallest for all the lines is just 10c. You can choose the auto-spin for up to 50 spins.
Wilds in this game are a fist with a ‘wild’ knuckle duster. These are the top paying symbols, and worth 1000 for 5 on a line and 200 for 4. As usual this symbol does not substitute for the scatter. Next from the regular symbols come the Snoop Dog look-alike, worth 750 for 5, the guy in the hat (500), dancing girls (400), ring (250) and roll of dollars (250). The decorated playing card symbols make up the smaller wins.
Scatters are oversized golden dollar signs – these are animated and you’ll hear it when they hit. If you get 3 of these anywhere on the reels, you will trigger the Win Spins feature. There are no additional prizes for the scatter symbols like you will find on many other Play N Go slots.
Pimped – Win Spins Bonus Game
When you hit the Win Spins feature the first thing you will notice is that it starts to rain dollar bills, this quickly turns into a blizzard. The music goes up in tempo too, with some vocals mixed in with the background track. Initially, you get 5 free spins, each with a guaranteed win. This does seem on the short side compared to bonus rounds in other games, though you can reach up to 20 spins in total by hitting the scatter (dollar) symbol anywhere on the reels. Each time you hit one, you’ll get 2 additional win spins.
I found the wins were significant during this feature round, making up for the smaller wins in normal play. You can win up to 1 million coins from a single feature from this slot.
There are no additional features or significant in-reel behaviour.
Pimped – Conclusion
Play N Go are producing a lot of great slots at the moment, and this is an excellent addition to their range. It is not the most feature-rich of games, only having the single win spins bonus round. It makes up for this by having a very slick theme, with both graphics and the background music creating a unique atmosphere.
This might not be my natural area (guitars win over hip hop beats for me any time!), though I can see myself coming back to play this slot again. Whether you are new to the Play N Go range, or have enjoyed their titles before – I recommend that you check out ‘Pimped’ for yourself.
