Jewel Box Slot Machine
Most Play N Go slots have sharp graphics – Jewel Box takes these to a new level. This is a gems themed slot, and the sharing and light-work make the symbols almost photo-realistic. This is a simple slot game, with just a single pick-em bonus game (based on Jewel boxes). There are some variations in the game-play to make it more interesting. For a start the symbols are stacked, often appearing in large groups. Wins are paid for adjacent symbols on the win-lines, regardless of whether they start on the first reel. On top of this there are wilds which are from x2 to x5, these multiply any wins they land on by the stated amount.
In addition to the photo-like gem symbols, the rest of this slot has some nice graphical touches. The background is like the purple silk lining used for the boxes, and the ring, string of pearls and earring are all beautifully produced. The gems spin and sparkle when they are involved in winning lines. Sounds are computer generated, mild enough and only occur when you are spinning – there are short tunes for different sized wins.
The bonus game is very simple, you get to pick from one of 3 jewel boxes – this is explained below.
Setup and Play for Jewel Box
I was a little confused about where my wins were coming from the first time I played this game. It turns out that wins do not need to start from the left hand side. As long as there are 3 or 4 gems on one of the 15 win lines, they can start on reel 2 or reel 3. In combination with the stacked symbols and multiplier wilds, this does add a lot of wins to your sessions.
The best symbol in this game is the emerald and diamond ring. This will give you 2500 for 5 and 250 for just 4. Next is the ear-ring worth 1000 for 5, and then the pearls worth 500. The gems make up the smaller wins, which are very frequent in this game. Keep in mind that these wins can be multiplied by the wild symbols. This can mean up to 5x the win amount – as well as wins over multiple different lines.
Jewel boxes are the only other symbol, this is used to trigger the bonus and only appears on the first, third and fifth reel. If you hit the first one, then the reels will speed up while waiting to see if you hit the others.
Jewel Box – Bonus Game
This is a simple bonus game. When you hit the 3 jewel boxes on the reels, these will expand and move to cover the centre of the screen. You then simply choose one of them, it opens and reveals a cash amount. On the plus side the amounts can be large (up to 150x your total spin amount). That’s it for bonuses, with no free spins or other side-games going on.
Jewel Box – Conclusion
A simple slot compared to many Play N Go titles, this slot still has several good things going for it. The graphics are worth playing this slot to see on their own, with very professional production and design. I enjoyed the wins not having to start on the left, even though this was confusing at first. This works well with the stacked symbols, and even better if you are lucky enough to get a big multiplier.
Jewel Box is not the most interactive of games – though for many people this will be a good thing. You’ll get the occasional pick-em game, and other than that your enjoyment will come from the solid game play. One to check out, especially if you enjoy the lower intensity slots.
