Enchanted Crystals Slot Machine Review
From the title of this game, I was expecting another ‘gems’ type game like the Gemix (also from Play N Go). It turns out that this is more in the mystical / fairies genre instead. This is a popular type of theme these days. Combining laid back music with a semi magical theme. The combination of great graphics and nicely produced sounds make this a very playable game. There are enough features to keep you entertained, without ever getting to intensive. These include ‘respins’, a free spins bonus round and a pick-em game too.
Unusually for Play N Go, this is a 243-ways slot. There are no win-lines, with any combination from left to right on adjacent reels creating a winning combination instead. This makes the individual wins smaller, though means you’ll get a lot more of them – often in groups with the expanding wild symbols.
Graphics are beautifully produced, with the different fairies the main symbols. There are also butterflies and a goblin (which steals the crystal in the bonus game). When you win, the symbols light up with sparkling trails around them. Music ebbs and flows, interspersing rhythmic beats and ambient noises. The music becomes more intensive during the bonus features, especially when you go below ground into the goblin’s lair.
Setup and Play for Enchanted Crystals
With no win-lines to select from, you simply have to select your total bet size from 5 choices underneath the reels. These are 20c, $1, $2, $10 and $50. You will see an auto-play function, which allows you to spin up to 50 times, and select different criteria for stopping those spins early.
Wins seem tiny from the main game. Once you play you will find that the number of winning combinations make up for this. The top symbol is the pixie with blond hair, which gets you 15 coins for 5 in a row. The other fairies are worth 8, 7 and 5 respectively – with the tree-like playing card symbols making up the smaller wins.
There are three special symbols during normal play. The crystal is an expanding wild. This can land in the middle 3 reels, and will expand to cover all of the 3 rows. You get 1 respin for each crystal that you land (with the reel remaining wild) which does increase the number of wins very nicely. The goblin in the bonus symbol, you need 3 of these on reels 1, 3 and 5 to trigger the quest to reach the goblin king’s chamber. The butterfly is another bonus symbol, 3 of these will trigger the free spins game.
Enchanted Crystals Bonus Feature
The pick-em game is the more frequent of the 2 main bonuses. First you see a sequence where the fairies crystal is stolen, before you follow the goblin down into his lair. You control a fairy, and have to pick a path each time – hopefully reaching the Goblin King’s chamber. Each pick reveals some gems (coins) or a goblin, in which case the round ends. You can win up to 500 times your total bet from this feature.
Free spins has a special new symbol. This is in the form of a new butterfly (from above, rather than perched on a flower like the one in the main game). Up to 5 butterflies fly onto the reels during your spins, becoming wild symbols. When this is combined with the 243-ways ‘no win line’ setup, you will find yourself getting a lot of wins all at once.
These two bonuses, combined with the in-reel expanding wilds feature balance well with the relaxing game-play.
Enchanted Crystals – Conclusion
I’ve played a lot of this type of slot, and will rate this one very highly. There is a nice balance between the mysterious and ethereal theme, and the entertaining bonus games. Those expanding wilds can bring reasonable wins at random, especially those times you manage to cover all of the 3 middle reels. While the bonus rounds are not the most frequent I have seen, they are enjoyable to play and can result in a nice boost for your bankroll.
If you enjoy slots involving fairies – then this is a must-play game, check it out for yourself soon.
