Aztec Warrior Princess Slot
We have all dreamed of discovering some kind of treasure forgotten deep in the wilderness. While not many of us can afford the luxury of travelling the world to look for such a big prize, slot game developers such as Play’n Go can manage to take players on such a trip without you having to quit your job or find a babysitter.
Aztec Warrior Princess is a visually impressive video slot game that will put you in the shoes of an archaeologist on the quest for Eldorado. Explore the rules in the jungle of South America, escape from the local wildlife and you might get a chance of hitting a big cash prize. Check out our full review of Aztec Warrior Princess to learn more about what to expect here.
Don't Step on the Bugs
Aztec Warrior Princess focuses on the essential: the reels. The different symbols are etched into stone wall of a mysterious Aztec temple at the heart of the jungle. The trees and ferns framing it are crawling with strange bugs, which sometimes cross the screen when you least expect it.
As far as looks go, Aztec Warrior Princess is quite predictable but beautiful to look at nonetheless. The background music and sound effects fit in perfectly, and the command buttons are discrete enough so as not to break the spell for the players. Aztec Warrior Princess made a good first impression, but we have to look at the gameplay as well before drawing any conclusion.
Play as You Want
Aztec Warrior Princess is a very average slot game: 20 paylines, 5 reels, medium variance and a 96.69% RTP. The betting range goes from 0.20 to 25 credits per spin only, with the usual autoplay and max bet shortcuts available at any time. In practice, Aztec Warrior Princess lets you score small cash prizes fairly frequently, but we had more difficulties reaching the bigger rewards in the base game.
Apart from the predictable card icons, the paytable of Aztec Warrior Princess contains frogs, jaguars, eagles and Quetzalcoatl, the serpent god. At most, you can win 1000 times your line bet at once during the base game. The low number of original reel symbols was a little disappointing at first, as it makes the game quite repetitive over time.
Eldorado in Sight
The most common bonus symbols in Aztec Warrior Princess are the wild emblem and the princess herself. Wilds can replace the basic symbols of the game and create their own combinations as well, worth up to x5000 at once. The princess is a scatter and offers up to 15 free spins regardless of where she lands. Both symbols are fairly common in Aztec Warrior Princess, which is great news.
The ceremonial skulls are bonus symbols, much rarer on the reels of Aztec Warrior Princess. Combine them during the base game to access the Aztec Warrior Princess mini game. Simply try to pick the right skull to reveal a bonus cash prize, which is a very straightforward challenge - and at the same time not very exciting.
The Adventure Continues
The general rules used in Aztec Warrior Princess are actually quite common on the slot game market, and even more so in the Play’n Go portfolio. Take Charterrejsen, a slot game designed for the Danish market that couldn’t look more different from Aztec Warrior Princess. Both games still share a lot of common rules, with the only major difference being that Charterrejsen offers much fewer free spins.
Inca Gold from Microgaming lets players visit another prehispanic culture. The basic layout is roughly the same as in Aztec Warrior Princess, with fewer bonus features and a lower RTP as well. Inca Gold turns out to be more challenging in the end, but fans of the genre will certainly want to check it out nonetheless.
Exciting but Not Exceptional
Aztec Warrior Princess is a fairly classic slot game at heart, with beautiful graphics that make it stand out in its category. We felt really attracted to the universe of the game right from the first second, and that alone motivated us to dig deeper and place a few bets.
But design isn’t everything, and Aztec Warrior Princess has some limitations in terms of gameplay. We were expecting more original reel symbols, a more exciting mini game and perhaps a progressive jackpot as well. In the end, we felt that the Play’n Go developers could have gone much further and given the game some depth in terms of gameplay as well.
