Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong is certainly not afraid to say what’s on his mind, and this time around his words have put him on the naughty list of America’s gambling capital.

Two radio stations have banned Green Day music after Armstrong made unsavoury comments about Las Vegas during a show at San Francisco’s Oracle Park on Friday. He had a few choice words regarding the nearby Oakland A’s baseball team leaving for Las Vegas – a controversial move that has left fans of the Northern California MLB team frustrated.

We don’t take sh*t from people like f*cking John Fisher”

While he initially took aim at A’s owner John Fisher, Sin City took a few strays in the process. The punk rock legend said: “We don’t take sh*t from people like f*cking John Fisher,” before adding: “I hate Las Vegas. It’s the worst sh*thole in America.”

Those final two sentences didn’t go under the radar of Las Vegas radio stations KOMP 92.3 and X107.5. The former took to Instagram with a post stating its new policy on the band’s music:

Meanwhile, X107.5 has enacted a similar ban after deeming Armstrong’s comments “inflammatory.” Rather than judging Las Vegas based on the A’s deal, the station urged the singer to “take a look at the city and the people involved in that transaction.” The statement also highlighted that Oakland are now worth $6bn rather than $2bn, making it “a good business decision.”

The A’s will play their games at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento for the time being while they wait for their new stadium on the site of the Tropicana on the Las Vegas Strip. It is expected to be ready by 2028.
