The Mohegan Tribe will relinquish its role of operating the Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City at the end of 2024. This will bring to an end an agreement that Mohegan Gaming advisors struck with the property in August 2012 following the death of Dennis Gomes, a co-owner of the casino. His death left a hole in the operations in what is a very competitive market.

Current Resorts owner Morris Bailey thanked Mohegan for its contribution over recent years and said that the property is now ready to take full control of operations. This was made possible thanks to the “stability and direction” that the tribe brought, as well as its help in appointing a “stellar management team” that will be staying in place.

Mohegan Tribe will hold on to the 10% ownership stake

The Mohegan Tribe will hold on to the 10% ownership stake it received in the 2012 agreement that saw it become the first Native American tribe to operate a casino in Atlantic City. CEO and President of Mohegan Ray Pineault thanked all of the staff members and guests from over the years, as well as the local community for their support.

The cross-marketing relationship between Mohegan casinos and the Resorts property will also conclude at the end of this year.
