Cyprus has become the latest country to launch a self-exclusion service for gambling-related activities that’s designed to help players with betting habits.
The National Self-Exclusion Platform (PSC) is part of the nation’s Safer Gambling Strategy 2022-2025. Developed by Cyprus’ National Betting Authority, the platform gives players control over their gambling activities. Users can put themselves on a gambling ban list for either a fixed period of time or indefinitely.
it is a powerful tool for every player”
Speaking of the launch, Ioanna Fiakkou, President of the National Betting Authority, said: “It is a powerful tool for every player, aiming to promote healthy betting behaviour and the protection of vulnerable groups.”
Fiakkou added that the platform is only available to online betting service providers with Class B licenses.
It is hoped, though, that this will take the country one step closer to achieving the goals set out in Cyprus’ Safer Gambling Strategy, such as “reducing [player] vulnerability and enhancing the sustainability of the industry in the right direction.”
