Building on existing MGM Resorts partnership

BetMGM has been named the first official sports betting partner of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, just days ahead of the team’s regular-season debut in Sin City. Building on a multi-year partnership signed between MGM Resorts and the Raiders in January, the augmented deal concentrates on the digital sports betting space.

MGM announced its latest agreement in a tweet:

Bettors in Nevada can now download the BetMGM app on iOS or Android devices. Customers are required to visit a Vegas MGM sportsbook to complete their registration, as per Nevada law. MGM sportsbooks in Las Vegas are housed at the Aria, Bellagio, Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, Park MGM, and New York-New York casino resorts.

Beyond the Death Star

For the Las Vegas-headquartered MGM Resorts, having an NFL franchise in its own backyard is good business, and now even more so with the digital augmentation.

MGM Resorts CEO and president Bill Hornbuckle said his company was “proud to welcome the Raiders and the NFL to Las Vegas.” He also spoke of giving fans a “world-class sports betting and entertainment experience” at MGM retail sportsbooks, and now digitally via the BetMGM mobile app.

BetMGM will open new levels of engagement for Raiders fans”

Raiders President Marc Badain concurred, adding that “BetMGM will open new levels of engagement for Raiders fans and guests of Allegiant Stadium.”

As part of the January deal, the black-and-chrome Allegiant Stadium is prominently MGM branded. Popularly referred to as the Death Star by Raiders fans, the venue includes exclusive extras for MGM members and guests, such as a VIP entrance, a private club with “ultra-exclusive game-viewing”, and upgraded stadium seats.

In a press release announcing the new partnership, BetMGM’s CEO Adam Greenblatt said the deal will complement “what is already a wonderful and rewarding relationship”.

Raiders’ Sin City premiere

In August, the Raiders reportedly sent out a letter stating that the 2020 season would be played without fans. Nevertheless, the $2bn, 65,000-seater Allegiant Stadium will host the New Orleans Saints on September 21 in what will be the Raiders’ first-ever NFL regular-season game to be held at the Vegas venue.???

As the Raiders-Saints game falls on the 50th anniversary of ESPN’s Monday Night Football television series, the media network is bringing out all the bells and whistles. ESPN’s multi-network MegaCast presentation will include Vegas-themed pre-game segments and showcase the stadium, located just off the Strip.
