Wild Power Boost Slot Machine
Wild Power Boost, from iSoftBet, isn’t the sort of slot machine you want to be tangling with lightly, for it has a cluttered and busy interface that could easily stump the best of us. Only veteran gamers will probably be prepared for the onslaught on the eyes.
Here you’ll find no safe place to hide away, or anywhere free from the intensity that the wild power of boosted gaming brings. No. You have to soldier on through, the game sporting many twists and turns, egging you on and driving you forward; if you’re seeking calm recreational entertainment, this isn’t where you’ll find it.
The 20 winlines and 5-reels showcase the very best of the classic iconography we’ve become so familiar with, thanks to our passion for old school gaming.
Power Gaming
As you’ll have guessed given our introduction and the name, the wilds are the be all and end all when it comes to Wild Power Boost. And yet we don’t see much variation in what’s offered from them. From the way the paytable has been designed, it would be very natural of you to assume that you get five different wild icons, when actually you just get the same one but with different outcomes.
iSoftBet have, rather smartly, made it look like you’re getting more for your wager. It lists each wild payout as if it’s a whole new icon to savour; in reality, the difference between one wild and five is the multiplier applied. When you get one symbol, players get a x2 multiplier for their winnings, but should they get five, the multiplier is increased to x6. If this is the power boost the game speaks of (it is, we checked), it doesn’t exactly get you excited, in fact we barely even care. Multipliers are good, but for a game to be deemed powerful, it needs to deliver chunky multipliers above x10, not ones below.
Not a Great Start
In regards to the other symbols, their returns leave a lot to be desired, with the most you can ever hope to win being valued at €1,000. We know that this is an accessible game and as such the betting threshold is small, but we weren’t expecting such low profits. If the maximum amount interests you, you’ll need five 7 Power tiles upon your reels, playing from left to right.
Once you’ve got the big payout, all that’s left are small fry, with the next highest symbol being worth €250 for five of the golden 7s. What this gives us is an activity that hasn’t got much room to grow or surprise us, which in turn makes the gameplay a lot more lacklustre.
Your Wager
The panel beneath the network of images may be coloured differently, but everything there is what you’ll find across all the iSoftBet games, and many other titles for that matter. In Wild Power Boost you have to set both the quantity of money and what that money is worth, both of which impact upon your final pay-in. Players will find that the most they’ll need to donate is €200, a rather significant chunk of money to be playing around with.
One shining feature of the controls is the Autospins, for the much simpler and cleaner toggle has been provided, offering between 5 and 50 rounds for you to play. There are, as ever, advanced settings, but you don’t have to bother with them to continue. By triggering the extra games you’ll start a countdown process, with a stop widget provided in case you want to pause the spins at any time.
Not so Hot Now
Given its name, this slot machine should wow us every step of the way, but instead it does very little. It’s so… anticlimactic that it’s hard to effectively put into words how disheartening an experience Wild Power Boost is. No doubt some of you will find merit upon the grid, but it feels like that will be a very minute group of gamers. The best rating we can give this online activity is two and a half out of five.
