Red Dragon Wild Slot Machine
There are many slots based around the Far East, but this slot is one of the few I’ve come across which concentrates on the Martial Arts aspect. You’ll actually see Martial Arts in action during the free spin feature of the game and many of the symbols are relevant to the theme, including fighting stars, blades and nun chucks. However the most important symbols at the game are the two featuring the red dragons – one will instigate the bonus feature whilst the other breathes fire across the reels giving extra wilds.
The slot is set against a deep red background, the frame of the slot appearing as an Eastern dwelling. The most eye catching symbol is the expanding wild, featuring a Bruce Lee lookalike with flames appearing behind. The rest of the symbols are relatively simple and this slot suffers slightly from the proliferation of playing card symbols – at times they take up almost all the slot. The accompanying sound is very relevant to the theme, especially when the gong sounds and the dragon breathes fire.
Setup and Play for Red Dragon Wild Slot
This slot by iSoftbet has five reels and a maximum of 30 win lines (you can choose to play fewer lines, with the option of playing just one). You’ll choose both the coin value of between 1c and 5c and the line bet amount between 1 and 5 – the combination of these two and the number of lines in play giving you the total stake for each spin.
You’ll win by landing at least three of any symbol consecutively on a win line from left to right, starting with the left most reel. The nun chucks are the highest paying standard symbol giving you a 1,500 coin windfall should you land five in a row. The fighting stars, the blades and the fan come next at 500, 400 and 300 coins respectively. The playing card symbols make up the rest of the slot and are the lowest paying.
There are two different wilds at the slot. The one you’ll see most often is the martial artist, who is an expanding wild. He will appear as a single symbol, but if expanding will mean that extra wins are achieved, he will indeed expand. This symbol will substitute for all other symbols apart from the bonus and the dragon wilds.
The red dragon symbol (with the dragon facing to the right) is a standard non-expanding wild, but when he appears he’ll turn up to five other symbols at the slot wild as well – these new wilds appearing as blue dragons.
The feature round is activated by the other red dragon symbol – this one facing to the left. This is a scatter symbol and you’ll need this to land three or more times across the reels to activate the feature round.
Red Dragon Wild Free Spins Round
Having activated the feature you’ll gain an instant win based upon the stake for each spin – 3 scatters giving you a 5x total stake win, with each additional scatter giving you an extra 5x. You’ll now be taken to a separate screen showing the martial artist, who will attempt to smash a number of boxes. Each box will give a number of free spins and these will be added to the total until you come across the blue dragon – at which point this part of the feature will end and you’ll be taken to the free spins themselves.
During the free spins the red dragon wild takes on extra importance, as every time he appears and creates new wilds they will become sticky, meaning they remain in place throughout the entirety of the free spins. This means that the further you move into the free spins, the more profitable they will become.
Red Dragon Slot by iSoftbet
This slot by iSoftbet is an interesting one without ever quite hitting the heights. The features are good and somewhat original, especially the bonus round where the martial arts aspect comes into play – and the expanding wilds and the red dragons make for an interesting game. However, the game does suffer a little graphically – this might simply be because of all the playing card symbols on the reels, giving the slot something of a basic overall feel. That isn’t to say that game won’t have its fans however – with all the wilds available, wins come along regularly and along with the features the game can certainly be playable.
