This slot is based around Thor, the hammer wielding god in Norse mythology, mostly associated with thunder and lightning. The opening sequence to this slot does the myth great justice, with the sky lit up as lightning strikes the swords wrapped in the flag of Denmark, this symbol also on display above the slot itself. The slot features symbols representing many aspects of the stories surrounding Thor, including a Viking ship, helmets, differing shields, Thor’s hammer and Thor himself.
The opening sequence to the game promises something special, but once this has cut away you are left a little flat, the actual game not quite up to the standard graphically that you might expect from today's video slots. The symbols are actually well drawn, especially the shields and the backdrop to the playing card symbols, but the bright blue background of the sky just doesn’t seem to fit – during the free spins round the background to the slot becomes dark and this is effective, giving the slot a more professional look. The sound is fitting for the theme of the slot and is interspersed effectively with the sound of lightning and the banging of Thor’s hammer. Set up and Play for Thor Stormlord
This slot by 1x2 is something of a standard five reel slot featuring 25 win lines. The 25 win lines are set as the default number, but you can change this by simply clicking on the arrows to the left and right of the number, with the option of playing just one line if that is your preference. You’ll also choose both the coin size and value, which will give you the total stake for each spin.
You’ll win by landing three or more of any symbol consecutively on a win line from left to right, with the largest wins obviously reserved for landing 5 symbols in a row. The biggest pay-out here is when landing the Viking Helmet – this paying 400x your coin amount for 5. Next in line is the hammer, which pays out 350x, the Viking ship and the shield the only other symbols paying more than 100x.
The hammer is also the wild symbol in the game and like any other wild it will substitute for other symbols to give you extra wins. However this wild does much more than that. When the wild appears, it will smash any symbol to its right, making this symbol disappear and the symbols above will now fall into its place, making for a new symbol at the top of the reel. This can lead to additional wins, or even activate feature rounds that wouldn’t have been activated otherwise (when a scatter symbol now appears at the top of the reel).
The two features in the game are both activated by a scatter symbol – landing the symbol actually named scatter (featuring a gold crowned goddess) three or more times will activate the free spins, while the Thor ‘bonus’ will activate the bonus round in the same way.

You could actually receive an enormous 50 free spins if starting the round having landed the scatter symbol 5 times, although you’ll likely receive 10 free spins for landing 3 (4 scatter symbols will give you the middling 30). You’ll also receive a win for landing the scatter symbol 3, 4 or 5 times in a row on a win line.
The bonus feature sees you taken away from the slot to another screen where you’ll see a series of 5 pots. Click on each one and you’ll either reveal a cash prize (represented by gold coins) or no prize at all. You’ll click on all 5 pots in this round.
Thor Stormlord - Conclusion
When playing a slot with such a grand theme, you might expect to see large, involving features, or an evolving storyline. Unfortunately this game doesn’t quite hit those heights. There are some good points however – the original take on the wild and the fact that there are two features. This slot is certainly playable, but there are many similar slots out there and this one doesn’t particularly stand out.
